We’ve won two iF Awards!

We are very proud to announce that we have won twice at this year’s iF Design Awards. The winning projects were Hydrobean water quality monitoring device and the ReGen circular design baby stroller.

HYDROBEAN

Hydrobean is a water monitoring device developed in collaboration with Cardiff University that can be placed in rivers to continuously measure and relay their quality. It is currently believed that the regulatory bodies' monitoring of water quality across UK river catchments doesn’t provide a sufficient enough understanding of the state of rivers. Hydrobean is the first low-cost, continuously monitoring water quality sensor designed specifically for use by citizen scientists.

Liz Bagshaw from Cardiff University stated: “The design is innovative and extremely well-suited to the environment, taking a very different approach to other systems available to market. It’s easy to use and performs well, and we can’t wait to get more out into our rivers.” Mike Prior-Jones added: “it was a great pleasure working with PDR Design on this project. We’re hoping that this innovative instrument will enable many local communities to monitor their rivers and streams cost-effectively.

REGEN STROLLER

The ReGen Stroller is a concept developed for iCandy to counter the 95% of baby strollers estimated to end up in landfill within three years of purchase. ReGen is the first fully circular, sustainable stroller designed for the future generation of consumers who place societal and environmental considerations at the heart of their purchasing without compromising on functionality, aesthetics or value.

Paul Walker, Director of Product and Design at iCandy stated: "At iCandy, we believe that parenthood and sustainability can go hand in hand, and collaborating with PDR on a project that so perfectly reflects our passion to elevate the journey of parenthood through innovation, style and the highest standards of quality, has been extremely exciting. The superb creativity displayed by the PDR team in developing ReGen blends cutting-edge design with environmentally responsible practices, addressing the ever-evolving need for sustainable solutions in the nursery industry, and has resulted in an incredibly well deserved prestigious iF Award. We could not be prouder to have been involved in this ground-breaking project.”

ABOUT THE AWARDS

For 70 years, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been regarded as one of the most significant industry awards and a benchmark of high-quality design. It celebrates outstanding accomplishments across a variety of disciplines, including product, packaging, communication, and service design, as well as architecture, interior architecture, professional concept, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) design.

We have a proud history of winning iF Design awards and have been ranked Best of the United Kingdom 2019 – 2023. In light of the news of this year’s wins, our Director Jarred Evans had the following to say:

“We’re very happy to have won twice at this year’s iF Design Awards. We’re particularly pleased to be recognised for two very different projects in Hydrobean and ReGen Stroller, which is testament to the diverse skillset we have within the team.

Hydrobean is another example of our great work with startups and universities, realising technologies that can make a tangible difference to the world. The ReGen Stroller really challenged us to produce a truly circular, sustainable product. The learnings from this were significant and the resultant disciplines and expertise we have developed have helped to produce a solution that demonstrates that sustainability is a driver of innovation not a barrier to it.”

We now look forward collecting the awards and celebrating with our fellow awardees at the iF Award Night in Berlin on April 29th.
